Meet the Artist

Ember Wixx (she/her) is a Pacific Northwest native and loves all of the unique qualities, quirky characteristics, and creative environments that the greater Seattle, Tacoma, and Olympia areas have to offer. The creativity really started blossoming in 2008 when Ember discovered her knack and love for crochet. Since then, her creativity has expanded exponentially to include an eclectic array of skills, techniques, and talents.

Ember’s artwork is crafted with the utmost respect for each specimen. She does her due diligence in tracing the source of every specimen she acquires — to make sure these animals were not farmed for their fur and that the rare entomological specimens are acquired from people who raise them and not taken out of nature. All specimens are ethically sourced.

As an environmentally conscious practitioner of folk witchcraft, Ember is largely focused on spirit work, bioregionalism, and the magic in the earth, animals, and plants around us.

A message from the Artist...

"Every single thing has a spirit. Everything we see, touch, and hear in nature has its own consciousness — they have wants, needs, likes, and dislikes. As a traditional witch, I connect with the spirits of everything I touch or use in my art. I listen carefully to what my intuition tells me about a specimen. I ask permission to take it and use it. If the answer is no then the answer is no. My craft makes me mindful of my environment and the animals, insects, and plants that I use. The completed pieces I offer are made with consent from the spirit of that being. I also let my connection with that specimen guide me as I make the piece itself.”

“I believe that mindfulness is evident in the beauty of each piece that I create and I often don’t understand how I have managed to craft something so beautiful. I am humbled by my art every day, and I am intimately connected to each piece."

Merry meet, merry part, and merry meet again.
